FIVE FACTS FROM THE SOURCE (Embedded):
The article states that, "animal cruelty is often broken down into two categories: active and passive"(PetAbuse.com) which I hadn't known before reading this web page.

There are many examples of neglect, some include "starvation, dehydration, parasite infestations, allowing a collar to grow into an animal's skin, inadequate shelter in extreme weather conditions, and failure to seek veterinary care when an animal needs medical attention"(PetAbuse.com).
Malicious intent to hurt an animal is "when a person has deliberately and intentionally caused harm to an animal"(PetAbuse.com) and can scare animals away from humans.

The article states that, "severe animal neglect can cause incredible pain and suffering to an animal"(PetAbuse.com) which shows that if animal cruelty continues, our pets will soon be scared of us.
Some types of cruelty may be caused from a "serious psychological problem"(PetAbuse.com) of the human.

Summary of Source (Three-Four Sentences of the Who, What, Where, Why, and How in your own words. NO OPINION):

The pet abuse web site deals with animal cruelty hands on and in the article discusses many examples of what animcal cruelty really is. There are two main typles of animal cruelty which are passive and active. Passive cruelty is a lack of action rather than the action itself. Active cruelty is malicious intent to hurt an animal. Animal cruelty takes place pretty much everywhere. Some people abuse animals because of their own life problems, including those with psychological disorders that cause them to hurt the animal. People abuse animals in many different ways; starvation, dehydration, no veterinary care, etc.

Credibility of Source:
Author or Site: Who is the author? What training have they had? If there is no author, examine the site. What is the purpose of the site? Who funds the site?

The purpose of the web site is to inform the world about animal cruelty and also to give an opportunity to report animal abuse. The site is credible because the people that work for the animals see for themselves the cruelty that takes place. The training they have had comes from their job of searching for animal cruelty in certain cities and protecting the animals.

Attachment: Does the author or site have anything to gain from writing this, or is it simply informative? For example, is it a cigarette business posting an article about the benefit of cigarettes, or is it a scientific community unaffiliated with the cigarette business?

The site has nothing really to gain from writing the article. It is more to just inform humans about what is taking place in society and try and prevent animal abuse from occuring.

Bias: Do you detect a bias (a favoring of either side) in the author's writing?
The article is not really a bias even though it only talks about the bad side of animal cruelty, but there really is no good or positve to it.

References: Does the author cite references in the writing? If so, do these add or take away from the credibility?

The author does not site references which takes away from his or her credibility.

Use of Source: How will you use this source in your project?
I plan to use this source to support my belief that many animals will soon be scared of humans if animal cruelty continues. Animals will not be able to trust their owners which will negatively effect the animals life forever. Animals know when their owner is going to hurt them and even when the animal is put into a new home with a trustworthy owner they still continue to act scared of their owner.
